Mr. Kreis comes to the University of Georgia from Charlottesville, Virginia where he earned his law degree from Washington and Lee University and completed advanced coursework in public law at the University of Virginia.

While at Washington and Lee, Mr. Kreis served as a research assistant to nationally recognized First Amendment scholar Rodney A. Smolla and leading expert on marriage equality and religious liberty, Robin Fretwell Wilson.  With Professor Wilson and a nationwide cohort of legal academics, Mr. Kreis assisted in legislation drafting efforts for various states’ marriage equality initiatives, including the 2011 New York Marriage Equality Act.  At the University of Virginia, Mr. Kreis was a research specialist for civil rights leader and Professor of History, Julian Bond.
